The village of Hinderwell is 9 miles north of Whitby between the Yorkshire Moors and North Yorkshire Coast.

Hinderwell is a busy village with lots of amenities, Church, Chapel, a Post Office/ general store, butchers, hairdressers, fish and chips, doctors surgery, village hall with tennis courts available to hire, garage, restaurant, deli, 2 pubs, both serve food and children are welcome.

Hinderwell is situated along the Middlesbrough to Whitby bus routes. There are buses every hour into Whitby and the surrounding villages. The bus stop is on the high street about 50m away.
